We invite you to read our current and past student testimonials regarding their online experience in the Canine Behavior Counselor Program. |

"AIAS internet courses provided me with the confidence to approach any canine behavior problem and the knowledge to design a scientific behavior modification plan. In addition, I’ve learned how to distinguish valid methods and theories from the latest “fads” while wading through thousands of publications concerning canine training and behavior. I have attended traditional college classes and never have developed such high levels of academic relationships with instructors and classmates. The on-line forum creates an intimate group learning environment because every member of the class shares all their ideas with the whole class. The instructors are highly educated professionals in the study of animal behavior and their combined practical experience is monumental. I have yet to locate any on-line or “brick and mortar” institution that offers a comparable level of animal science education by a more qualified group of instructors. Even if I could find a local institution offering the same level of education, my current work and household schedules make it impossible for me to attend scheduled campus classes. The on-line courses offer the flexibility to study and learn any hour of the day or night."

"The AIAS hands-on workshops in dog training, instructor skills development, and abnormal counseling and treatment were excellent learning experiences. I was able to incorporate the theoretical knowledge I received in the online classrooms in a practical way, while working with dogs and their family members. The ACABC certified staff provided excellent instruction in behavioral treatment methods for dogs using humane positive reinforcement methodology."

"I have been a dog trainer and obedience instructor for over 30 years, and I highly recommend this program. The courses validated many of the methods I have used over the years and also taught me new and more effective methods of modifying family dog behavior. I have finally learned the scientific theories and principals behind how a dog learns. I will now pass this knowledge on to my clients so they may better understand their pets, and live in harmony with them."
Deborah Shoener MacDonald, Southampton PA USA
"The AIAS program is excellent in many ways. It is well organized and it provides me with all the necessary information that I find easy accessible. Even though the program is very challenging, and requires work, Instructors and everybody I came in contact with in AIAS, are extremely helpful and outgoing. I enjoyed the convenience of on-line learning a lot. Especially because it provides me with mobility. I took a course at AIAS because I strongly believe that I will gain a proper knowledge and that it will help in my future career."
Jelena Gacesa, Croatia
"AIAS has given me the opportunity through its convenient online training program to focus on a subject I love, and that I otherwise would not have had the chance to do. The AIAS program in canine behavior helped me to get a job in a veterinary office where I have already consulted with several families with dog behavior problems. I am planning to soon open my own canine behaviour practice, the first on the island of Bermuda, and expand from there to include feline behaviour and possibly massage, agility, and a general dog park. I am very excited about the doors AIAS has opened for me and recommend their educational program to anyone who wants the convenience of studying from home, tied in with the rare opportunity to do something you love for a living."

"I have had a great experience with American Institute for Animal Science so far. I graduated from high school in 2001 and went to a university for a year and realized I wanted to work with dogs full time. So I searched the Internet and found this school. I crossed my fingers and signed up. The classes are very educational. You have to do your part as well by reading and keeping up on everyone’s posts. I am finishing my fourth class now and I have attended the CAS 701 workshop. Bob Defranco, the president is a great guy who is very knowledgeable. His workshop is very hands on and it benefited me greatly. I learned so much in that one week. I plan to finish the whole program, become certified and work at my local SPCA."
Tara Todd, Broomall, PA
"AIAS has made it possible for me to pursue my behavioral certification as a canine behavior counselor while continuing to work full time. Even with six years prior hands on behavioral experience and training with a behavioral specialist in my area, this course has proven to be both challenging and rewarding. Best of all, I'm earning my certification from an accredited college, something I wouldn’t be able to obtain from my employer. In addition, it's interesting to correspond with other members involved in your virtual classroom and share what experiences they've had training their own dogs and how similar their experiences may be to yours. You're able to get a broad source of information and advice. It's truly an enriching experience for anyone interested in animals and learning about behavior and application."

"I am currently a student at AIAS working toward certification as a Canine
Behavior Counselor. My full time job involves varying hours on a day to
day basis and this on-line program has allowed me to fit the classes in
around my work schedule. The instructors have been great and the technical support extremely helpful.
I am delighted to be able to pursue my education without worrying about weather or road conditions."
Bridget Burton, Manchester, CT USA
"I have always loved working with animals, but any
schools I found that offered animal related programs
of study, were far from my home and very expensive.
After I moved to a new state (due to work) I thought I
would have an even harder time pursuing my dream.
When I found out about AIAS' online course, I crossed
my fingers and tried it. I'm so glad I did and having
completed my first class I've signed up for my second.
It's a different way of learning than the
traditional classroom lectures and took a little
getting used to at first, but it's so much more
efficient than only getting together once a week for a
3 hour class. I find that if I have a few spare
moments at work (or even at home) I can log on and
check out the latest developments in my class, respond
to what my classmates are saying or post my own ideas
all without missing a beat at work. And since we have
a full week to discuss a chapter, there's more time to
develop a firm grasp of the concepts and how they
apply outside of the textbook. I've spent years going
to classes after work only to find myself struggling
against exhaustion, falling asleep in class or
worrying about taking the train home alone late at
night.
Another nice thing about the course, since it's all in
printed form, is I don't have to struggle to remember
all that was said in class or rely only on my notes
and can use the forum to study for my exams. It's not
like a mail order class which I have taken before and
didn't like. So much time would pass between the time
I sent in my assignment and received my reply that I
felt isolated or left out, but with the class being
online I can always log on and feel very much a part
of an on-going group. I have recommended online
classes to my colleagues, many of whom (like my
classmates) work long hours and then go home to take
care of their kids and so feel they don't have any
time left over to go to school"
Katherine Blanco Cambridge, MA
"The course content far surpassed my expectations in preparing me for a career
in canine behavior counseling. The amount of material covered in each class
is demanding, but having the flexibility of an online course makes it
possible to meet the requirements. I have learned so much from other students
who bring their own experience to the classroom."
Bonnie Henderson, Coventry, CT USA
"I have been very pleased with the course content in CAS106 and the
knowledge, input and assistance provided by the instructor and look forward
to taking the next class. I would highly recommend online "distance"
learning for people interested in taking classes, especially if their time
is limited or the classes are not offered at an institution close to their
home."
Linda J. St. Jean, Dryden, MI USA
"I have been pleased with the high quality of education these courses offer. One can tell that AIAS is serious about providing quality learning and that they care about students and animals. I'm looking forward to taking more classes."
Dana White, Tulsa, OK USA
