AIAS Press Release
For Immediate Release

June 12, 2001

Des Moines, IA - The American Institute for Animal Science, Inc. (AIAS) announced today that its private school license was approved by the State of Iowa, Department of State, Postsecondary and Instructional School Programs. AIAS plans to enroll 20 students in a 12-week pilot course entitled Animal Learning Processes and Behavior (CAS 101) taught by animal scientist Daniela Maina, PhD and assistant instructors Emily Weiss, PhD and James Jacabow, PhD as part of the Institute's Canine Behavior Counselor curriculum which will begin on July 1, 2001.

The Canine Behavior Counselor curriculum is unique in the world in that it provides students with the theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to shape behavior in family dogs as well as treat behavior problems on a clinical level. There are currently two online and two on-the-ground courses necessary to receive a certificate from this program. Students may elect to complete an internship under the guidence of a certified Canine Behavior Counselor (CBC) with the Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors and apply for professional certification with that organization.

Courses will be delivered online through the Jones Knowledge e-Education softeware. JonesKnowledge.com™ and its affiliated companies are internationally recognized as pioneers in the application of communication technologies in the service of education. Since 1987, Jones, headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, has focused on global learning, continuously originating ways to use emerging technologies to support corporations, educators, learning institutions and lifelong learners worldwide.

Regular classes are scheduled to begin quarterly on Sept 1, December 1, March 1 and June 1 of each year.
