West
Des Moines, IA – The
American Institute for Animal Science announces its approval by IACET to award
CEUs.
The American Institute for
Animal Science announced today that it has qualified as an Approved Provider of
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by the International Association of Continuing
Education and Training (IACET) after a rigorous review process began over six
months ago. IACET is a non-profit association dedicated to quality continuing
education and training programs. IACET certifies education providers that meet
strict continuing education guidelines. IACET certification is the standard
learners seek for quality. Its Criteria and Guidelines are the core of thousands
of educational programs worldwide. IACET grew out of a National Task Force on
continuing education commissioned by the Bureau of Education (now the Department
of Education) in 1968, when the CEU was created. IACET has been the CEU's
caretaker for over thirty years. Originally conceived as a quantitative measure
of successfully completed continuing education, the CEU has evolved into a
hallmark of quality training and instruction by responsible, qualified
organizations. One (1) CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of continuing
education.
“Permission to award CEUs
for online and ground-based coursework in the applied animal sciences gives us
the opportunity to develop theoretical and practical coursework that will assist
those who work with animals to increase their knowledge at a standardized, peer
reviewed level that is far above what has been previously offered,” says school
director and President Robert DeFranco. “Our next step is to apply for
accreditation with a U.S. Department of Education recognized national
accrediting authority in the middle of next year, and to then begin the process
of becoming degree granting. We expect to be able to offer the first graduate
degree in the United States
in companion animal behavior (canine behavior track) within the next two years.”
